Hunter Writers Centre is offering a great way to cap off the holidays, offering its inaugural, state-wide, Travel Writing Competition.

The Centre’s Director, Karen Crofts, says that stories are a terrific way to remember and celebrate holidays - the fun and the hiccups along the way.

“This travel writing competition is made all the more exciting with a word limit of only 500,” Karen says. “Entrants are encouraged to tell their adventure/holiday story in less than an A4 page. This type of writing encourages succinct, compact writing that makes for an engaging read.”

“Hunter Writers Centre will host a Live Reading Event of the top 20 stories. Experienced public readers will share the top 20 stories as selected by our judge, travel writer Walter Mason, and Walter will also announce the winners that night: first prize, 2 runners up and the people's choice award.”

The people's choice award is voted by the audience. After hearing the top 20 stories, the audience will vote for their favourite, the results are tallied and the winner of this category is announced.

Great prizes are up for grabs including accommodation at the Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley, and Gortex jackets from Kathmandu.
