Mount Pleasant Wines

The history of Mount Pleasant goes hand in hand with the history of modern Australian winemaking.  Established in 1921 by legendary winemaker Maurice O'Shea, ours is a story of genuine pride, perfectionism and our very special place.

Our winemaking philosophy remains now as it was then under Maurice O'Shea. Today Adrian Sparks, as only the fifth Chief Winemaker in Mount Pleasant’s long history, upholds our commitment to expressing the beauty and individuality of our unique and historic vineyard sites. Creating with every vintage, wines of longevity, elegance and balance, that capture an honest, true story of place and time long after they’ve been bottled.

At Mount Pleasant we watch over some of Australia’s most historic and precious vineyards. Founded in 1921 by the legendary Maurice O’Shea, whose story and character is as compelling and transformative as the wines he produced. His contribution to Australian wine cannot be understated: he is recognised for setting the standard for modern Australian winemaking. His ‘fanatical perfectionism’ saw him create Mount Pleasant’s signature style of elegance, balance and exceptional longevity.

Select from four tasting experiences curated by winemaker Adrian Sparks to showcase the legacy of these historic vineyards. Take the rare opportunity to experience some of the greatest vintages of Maurice O’Shea shiraz; journey through the transformation of semillon in the bottle; sample unique expressions of our historic sites from vines planted back to 1880 or experience the diversity of the Hunter Valley and celebrate the evolution of our winemaking.

Enhance the experience with a selection of tasting plates, or finish with a glass of shiraz whilst overlooking our historic Old Hill and Old Paddock vines. Book now.
