BRIAR RIDGE FIRST ANNUAL WAREHOUSE SALE
FUN FOR ALL THE FAMILY THIS OCTOBER LONG WEEKEND
To help celebrate 50 years in the Hunter Valley wine industry, Briar Ridge Vineyard and Winery is set to welcome everyone this long weekend with something for everyone to enjoy. Nestled against the mountain side of Mount View, in what is widely regarded as the most picturesque area of the Hunter Valley, this ‘classically radical’ vineyard is quickly gaining a reputation for innovative winemaking firmly supported by a foundation in tradition and well-established vines that enjoy a long history.
In a first for the winery, the Warehouse Manager, Rebecca Irvine will be throwing open the warehouse doors for a behind the scenes sale.
“We’ve uncovered a pile of hidden gems, vintage lots and bin ends while forklifting around the warehouse,” said Bec. “We’re letting in our cellar door visitors to go on a treasure hunt to find their own sweet deal. Pull up your car and fill the boot – but you’d better be quick!”
Wines include the latest stock, museum and Briar Ridge favourites with prices starting at $40 per six pack from 10am to 5pm or until stocks last. While you’re busy hunting for your favourite tipple the little ones can take advantage of free face painting from 11am to 2pm.
The Briar Ridge restaurant, Osteria specialises in Italian home style cooking and is the ideal choice for lunch on the deck. As an interactive alternative to a single glass of wine with your lunch booking in Osteria, why not try a Gusto Wine Flight? Available in Bianco (white), Rosso (red) or Mesco (mixed) wines to pair with a homestyle meal or charcuterie board, they are only $30 per person. Briar Ridge members can enjoy two free Gusto Wine Flights with their Osteria reservation this long weekend only.
On Sunday from 12pm to 3.30pm, Newcastle’s own Cass Eleven will be performing her distinctive style of layered vocals, beatbox, flute, saxophone, and guitar with all-live looping and generous doses of improvisation. She blends soulful jazz, Latin, blues, reggae, folk, funk and hip hop influences to create a feel-good, groove-oriented style and energy that goes perfectly with the food and wine on offer in the beautiful landscape of Briar Ridge.
The winery has recently won a number of awards including the Halliday Wine Companion Award for “Other White (& Blends) Wine of the Year” with the 2021 Limited Release Albariño by winemaker Alex Beckett, the 2022 International Cool Climate Wine Show Top Gold award for the 2020 ‘Big Bully’ Cabernet Sauvignon as well as Alex being named the 2022 Hunter Valley Legends Awards - Young Achiever of the Year.
Owner of Briar Ridge, Jaclyn Davis is excited at the trajectory of the winery. “We are so lucky to have Alex as our winemaker,” said Jaclyn. “We are proud to be at the forefront of innovative wine techniques firmly supported by traditions that go back 50 years this year. Welcoming visitors to our cellar door and making sure that their experiences are more than they expect is important to the whole team. A beautiful landscape, award winning wines, delicious food and great entertainment backed up with some fabulous warehouse deals makes for a perfect weekend.”
