The idyllic, historic town of Wollombi in the NSW Lower Hunter Valley will come alive on Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 November at the annual Wollombi Small Farms Fair, showcasing the best the Valley has to offer in way of local food producer market stalls, wool spinners, wine makers, olive growers, an artisan food skill sharing showcase, rural livestock demonstrations, small farms trade show, a Mower Mardi Gras, Lantern Parade and Scarecrow Competition.

Only 90 minutes drive from Sydney and 60 minutes from Newcastle and the Central Coast, the Wollombi Small Farms Fair is now in its fifth year and continues to grow as one of the premier NSW small farm events targeted specifically at the ‘tree changer’ audience.

“Small landholders or those looking at making the ‘tree change’ will be able to learn everything there is to being a small farm owner,”said organiser Michael Noyce.  “From farm machinery to food demonstrations we will have it all at the Fair.

“The Wollombi Valley is steeped in indigenous and convict history and this will also be on show as part of the historic Wollombi Museum Open Day as well as fun events for the family such as the popular Lantern Parade and bonfire on the Saturday night, Scarecrow Competition and judging and the Mower Mardi Gras.

Participation in the Scarecrow Competition, Lantern Parade and Mower Mardi Gras is open to anyone who has an imagination or a ride-on mower!  There will be a scarecrow-making and lantern-making stall over the Fair weekend for anyone who would like to enter or visit the website for details on entering prior to the Fair.

The rural livestock display will feature the magnificent Gypsy Cob horses which are the 2013 Fair’s Breed in Profile as well as cattle, pigs, goats and other farmyard animals for all the kids to meet up close!
