EVERYTHING’S COMING UP ROSES AT HUNTER VALLEY GARDENS ROSE SPECTACULAR THIS SPRING!
From October 11 to November 16 2014, visitors to Hunter Valley Gardens will be greeted by an incredible sensory explosion of colour and fragrance as they view 35,000 rose bushes with hundreds and thousands of roses in bloom as part of the annual Rose Spectacular.
Sean O’Brien, the award winning Horticultural Manager at Hunter Valley Gardens says, “This time of year is one of our favourites as visitors take a breathtaking journey that’s full of surprises. Watching their delighted faces excited by the sensational sights, colours and fragrances makes our work throughout the year so worthwhile. This is definitely the best time to see the roses at their peak.”
During the Rose Spectacular, garden enthusiasts and those who enjoy nature will be able to experience all the activities and interactive presentations about the history of roses and how to successfully plant and grow their very own. It will feature a program of daily demonstrations and talks by the highly knowledgeable and qualified horticultural team at Hunter Valley Gardens including:
10.30am Hunter Valley Gardens Rose Talk
An informative talk on all one needs to know about roses, with a question and answer session, also hosted in the Rose Garden.
12.30pm The History of the Rose
An informative discussion about the history of roses with interesting and unusual facts, hosted in the Rose Garden.
2.30pm The History of Hunter Valley Gardens
Get an insight into how Hunter Valley Gardens was created hear the history behind the scenes, how it has developed and what it takes to create Australia’s Largest Display Garden, hosted in the Amphitheatre.
“This incredible experience shows visitors that anyone can grow a beautiful rose garden with the correct knowledge. Tips on planting, treating pests and diseases, how to use fertilisers and pruning methods will all be addressed to show that roses are actually easier to grow than many other flowers. All you need to do is follow a few simple rules,” says Mr. O’Brien.
