Ryder’s memory unites the Hunter to help others!
Ryder Jack Manulat earned his wings on June 11, 2014. He was an amazing and joyful soul who shared his love for life with everyone he met. His smile and laughter was infectious and he is sadly missed by his loved ones. However, his life certainly made an impact, so much so that this amazing little man’s memory is bringing the Hunter together for a great cause and the Hunter is buzzing with excitement and smiles, just as Ryder would have wanted.
The beautiful wings of Ryder will take flight at The Vintage in the Hunter Valley this Monday 15th December;bringing over 120 golfers from all walks of life. There will be managing directors from corporations, locals playing alongside celebrities, and professional golfers showing non golfers how to refrain from losing their cool. There will be prizes, laughter and competition, but amongst all the fun, everyone will be there to raise much needed funds for the newly formed charity in remembrance of Ryder, the T21 Ryder’s Foundation.
“To honour Ryder, and ensure he leaves his footprint on this world, we have created T21 Ryder’s Foundation, said Merran Manulat, Ryder’s Mum. The Foundation will raise much needed funds for children with Down Syndrome up to 5 years of age and will assist their families in purchasing essential equipment.”
The two year-old was the centre of his family and described as someone who brought joy to everyone he met. He was also a fighter and in his short life overcame more adversity than most people ever will. Two days after he was born, Ryder was diagnosed with Down syndrome and a congenital heart defect. In an effort to help create awareness, his family started the Facebook page ‘Upside Down’ to share Ryder’s journey. Sadly in June this year, Ryder was struck down by Meningococcal disease and passed away suddenly. Determined to honour his memory, Ryder’s family including mother Merran, father Ray and brother’s Jett and Hunter, have set up a foundation with all money raised funding children living with Down syndrome in the Hunter region.
Monday’s golf day already has 120 players taking part and the day will consist of a four-person Ambrose event with a shotgun start at 9am. There will be 18 holes of golf played followed by a two-course lunch.
There is also an outrageous number of prizes that have been donated for the day, for example 2014 signed Australian Team Cricket Bat, an Adam Scott golf bag, a signed Waratah Jersey, plus huge support from over 11 local wineries here in the Hunter Valley. All these plus more, will be offered either in an auction or raffle on the day. With an added special surprise from Anna Weatherup, performing on the
day.
