International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC) awards Semillon Trophy to McGuigan Wines - five years in a row! 

Highly awarded Australian winemaker, McGuigan Wines, has once again been recognised as a world-class wine producer with its 2006 BIN 9000 Semillon taking out the Semillon Trophy at the 2015 International Wine and Spirit Competition (IWSC).

This is the fifth year in a row McGuigan Wines has been awarded the Semillon Trophy at the IWSC – strengthening its position as one of the world’s best Semillon producers. McGuigan Wines has also been shortlisted for IWSC Australian Producer of the Year for the sixth year in a row.

Chief Winemaker for McGuigan Wines, Neil McGuigan, said; “Five years and five IWSC Semillon trophies in a row; what a truly magnificent achievement and something that has never been done before! These successive wins showcase fantastic consistency and depth in our aged Semillons, and great potential for newer vintages that will no doubt age with the same style and grace as the trophy winners.

“The Hunter Valley is our spiritual home, and Semillon is the iconic white variety of that region. To take people on the Semillon journey, we need to be innovative with our winemaking techniques and by doing this, they will be on the road to discovering a variety that has flavour, lightness, finesse, longevity and that is a marvellous match for so many foods.”

In addition to the Semillon Trophy, McGuigan Wines also received four Gold Outstanding, including the 2004 McGuigan Shortlist Riesling, 2003, 2004 and 2006 BIN 9000 Semillon.
