The wait is over - 2016 heralds the triumphant return of Opera in the Vineyards, Australia’s beloved annual celebration of food, wine and opera.
Since its humble beginnings in 1996 at the historic Wyndham Estate Winery, almost 100,000 people have converged on the beautiful Hunter Valley for an evening of musical passion and romance. Add the breathtaking surrounds of the vineyards, delicious food, fine wine and good company, and you have an experience not to be missed!
After a two year hiatus, Opera in the Vineyards will grace the stage at the stunning Roche Estate (formerly Tempus Two), located right in the heart of Pokolbin and surrounded by a variety of visitor accommodation and popular vineyard destinations.
To celebrate, we are thrilled to present four of our most famous and popular opera singers, sopranos Natalie Aroyan and Amelia Farrugia, star tenor David Hobson and special guest, international tenor Richard Troxell (USA). We also welcome back Maestro Brian Castles-Onion to compere proceedings in his own inimitable way, and conduct the highly regarded Metropolitan Orchestra. The programme will include all the greatest hits of opera, by Mozart, Rossini, Puccini and Verdi. Sure to touch the heart and stir the emotions!
Let your spirits soar as their stunning voices lead you on a journey through some of the most beautiful arias and duets ever written. Even the ‘opera-shy’ will be familiar with these unforgettable masterpieces, brought to vibrant life with a full orchestra under the stars.
Guests are invited to arrive early to savour the exceptional delights of quality local food and wine at the impressive, architecturally designed, Roche Estate. For an even richer sensory experience, head to the magnificent Hunter Valley Gardens just a few minutes away, to immerse yourself in the sensational sights, colours and fragrances of over 60 acres of spectacular international display gardens. Complete your afternoon with a stroll through the nearby Hunter Valley Gardens Shopping Village, featuring over twenty boutique shops and cafes.
Then, as the sun sets slowly over the vines, take your seats in the magnificent open-air amphitheatre, glass of wine in hand, and relax into a night of musical magic beneath the stars… Tickets are limited and will sell fast, so book early to ensure you get the best seats on the night.
A truly memorable experience and a wonderful excuse for a day or weekend away, Opera in the Vineyards is a definite highlight in anyone’s spring calendar. Put it in yours now!
