Uncorked Avalon bringing the best of the Hunter Valley to the sea
The Village Green at Dunbar Park will come alive with the renowned pleasures of Australia’s oldest wine region on Sunday 23 April when the tastes, sights and sounds of the Hunter Valley merge with the breezy coastal lifestyle of Avalon at the inaugural Uncorked Avalon Festival.
Visitors can immerse themselves in the Hunter Valley way of life and its well-loved charm under the sunny skies of Avalon as they wander through food stalls, sampling fresh, gourmet delights and the incredible wines of the picturesque region.
Uncorked Avalon will bring together more than 20 wineries from Australia’s premium wine-growing region, a brewery and food stalls featuring delicious fare from popular local restaurants.
Promising to be a relaxing day of sumptuous food and wine with family and friends, the event will also provide a taste of what’s to come in this year’s Hunter Valley Food and Wine Festival, which spans May and June and offers the perfect journey of discovery through the epicurean delights of the iconic region.
A sister event to the ever-popular Balmoral Uncorked, it’s an event not to missed by anyone who loves great food and wine. The Wine Selectors Expert Tasting Panel will hold a range of informative and fun cellar sessions for all lovers of wine – from experienced palates to those just beginning their wine-tasting journey of discovery.
During the sessions there will be tastings of an amazing range of varieties, including new-style, old favourites like chardonnay and shiraz; as well as some exciting. alternative Hunter varieties shaking up the scene and cementing the Hunter Valley’s reputation as one of the most progressive and dynamic wine regions in the country. Visitors can register for sessions at the Wine Selectors Cellar Door on the day.
Wineries include: Allandale Winery, Brokenwood Wines, De luliis Wines, Glandore Estate, Hungerford Hill Wines, Ironbark Hill Brewhouse, Macquariedale Organic Wines, Margan Family Wines, Mistletoe Wines, Mount Pleasant Wines, Oakvale Wines, Pepper Tree Wines, Peter Drayton Wines. Peterson House, Saddler's Creek Wines, Thomas Wines, Tulloch Wines, Tower Estate, Two Rivers Wines, Tyrrell's Wines, Vinden Estate Wines and Wine Selectors.
Restaurants and producers include: Despana, Hunter Valley Cheese Company, Inbocca, Miss Mabels Organic Food Truck, Pizzico, Pukara Estate, The Shuck Truck and The Cellar Restaurant.
If you want to skip the line, Riedel wine glasses and four tasting tickets can be purchased online prior to the event for $29, while souvenir wine glasses can be purchased on the day for $10, or $15 for signature Hunter Valley Riedel glasses. Tasting vouchers are $3.50 each. Pre-purchasing tickets also puts visitors in the draw to win a Hunter Valley experience valued at over $3,300, or enter on the day at event.
The event begins at 10.30am, with the last wine vouchers sold at 4.30pm and last wine poured at 4.45pm. The day finishes at 5pm.
