OAKS CYPRESS LAKES RESORT ACES ANNUAL WORLD GOLF AWARDS
Oaks Cypress Lakes Resort in New South Wales’ Hunter Valley is celebrating another major win after taking out the coveted title of Australia’s Best Golf Hotel 2018 at the 5th Annual World Golf Awards for the second consecutive year.
Announced at a gala ceremony in Spain this week, the international awards program serves to acknowledge and celebrate excellence in golf across a range of categories on a global scale.
Voted on by respected golf industry experts and tourism authorities, the popular Hunter Valley property claimed the win after competing against an impressive line-up of world-class golfing destinations spanning Australia.
Chief Operating Officer of Minor Hotels – Australia and New Zealand, Mr Craig Hooley, commented, “On behalf of the team at Oaks Cypress Lakes Resort, I’m exceptionally proud of this achievement and the hard work that has gone into securing this award for a second year running.
“The Resort’s strong golf offering continues to appeal to a broad range of domestic and international markets; not only is the course itself award-winning, but it also presents as an iconic Australian golfing destination that offers visitors the opportunity to play against a stunning backdrop of undulating vineyards and native hinterland. Paired with our rejuvenated onsite villa accommodation and premium leisure facilities, the Resort really does tick all the boxes as an all-inclusive leisure destination in the Hunter Valley.
“At Oaks Hotels & Resorts, we’re proud to offer a diverse portfolio of properties and facilities that attracts a broad range of travellers, including the golfing community, couples, families, seniors, corporate travellers, as well as meetings, events and wedding groups too. In many cases, we’re offering much more than just somewhere to sleep – we are delivering an all-inclusive travel experience and Oaks Cypress Lakes Resort is testament to this,”
he said.
While the course has enjoyed a rich 25-year history as a Hunter Valley icon, it’s also experienced substantial upgrades and improvements over the past five years since being acquired by Minor Hotels, which have helped
strengthen and maintain its position as one of the region’s most renowned golf hotels.
Oaks Cypress Lakes Resort has also enjoyed a string of other notable accolades over the past year, including being ranked among Spice News’ Hot 100 for the Best Golf Hotel category; making Australian Golf Digest Magazine’s Top 100 Courses list; and receiving a 2018 Certificate of Excellence from TripAdvisor.
The 6,467m par 72 course is home to abundant native Australian wildlife, manicured greens, dramatic fairway shapes and over 60 strategically located bunkers. Other highlights include its modern club car fleet, complete with the latest GPS technology, as well as a driving range, onsite golf shop, and alfresco-style clubhouse, popular for a pre or post-game meal, light refreshment and cool beverage.
Located just two hours’ drive from Sydney, Oaks Cypress Lakes Resort boasts 136 villas in a range of One, Two and Three-Bedroom configurations, many of which have undergone a rejuvenation. It features three swimming
pools, tennis courts, two restaurants and bars, a well-equipped gymnasium, and seven versatile function venues.
